A brand new skill.

… One of my goals right now is to learn how to use Photoshop. Tonight I followed this tutorial and came out with these “blog buttons.” So proud of myself! Except that they have that little box around them in the post that they don’t have on my blog’s sidebar. Help? Anyone?

welcome2

welcome… Supply teaching has been SO slow since September that I applied to work at a credit union that I worked at before I went to teacher’s college (oh, the irony.) I got the job and I’ve been working there full-time for the past two weeks. From December on it will be part-time and I’ll still be able to teach in there too. It’s a great place to work and I’m very happy to be there, though I do feel like I have no idea how my life will turn out. Banking or teaching? Who knows.

… And a cute Casey picture. Today during his nap I was loading the dishwasher and I saw that he had dropped one of his cars into the cutlery holder. I was about to take it out but then I thought, no, I’ll wait until Casey gets up because he’ll think it’s funny. Sure enough, when Casey saw it he laughed like crazy at himself. I love that we can have these little inside jokes now.

… Does anyone remember that Fisher Price clubhouse beside Casey? Kent’s parents saved a bunch of their kids’ old toys and maybe it’s just my nostalgia speaking, but I don’t think Fisher Price makes toys like they used to. Casey has a lot of the current Fisher Price stuff and they’re great and he really enjoys them, but the older stuff seems to have so much more detail. Please agree with me so I stop feeling really old and jaded.

… One more Casey story: A couple of days ago he ran into the living room saying,”egg! egg!” I looked over and sure enough, he was proudly holding a single egg. Yesterday my mom was over and while I was telling her that story, Casey heard us and ran into the room happily holding another egg. Thanks for bringing my stories to life, buddy. Life has definitely gotten more interesting since he learned to open the fridge.

  • Vintage Fisher Price stuff is the best. I’m always on the lookout for a good piece at thrift stores. I had the Tudor style house when I was a kid and I would just sit and stare at the graphics memorizing all the details. I’ve come across them on kijiji before and have thought about getting one for Vivian, but I don’t know if I would let her play with it!

  • We used to have that house too! I see it in kindergarten classes a lot still.

  • Good work with the blog buttons! And this is SUCH a fun age for kids!! Love him.

  • The box around the buttons does not show up in google reader, which means that it must be an image setting within your blog layout. Hope that helps!

    Thanks Jenn!
